Chronological Age Calculator

Chronological Age Calculator

The age of a person can be counted differently in different cultures. This calculator is based on the most common age system. In this system, age increases on a person's birthday. For example, the age of a person who has lived for 3 years and 11 months is 3, and their age will increase to 4 on their next birthday one month later. Most countries use this age system.

How to calculate your chronological age?

This online chronological age calculator makes it possible to calculate the age of a person, movable property, real estate, institution, or a company to the day. Just enter the date of birth / construction / establishment, etc., and click the button to get the current chronological age, e.g. "20 years, 3 months, and 5 days", as well as how many full years, months, weeks, and days have elapsed since the date of birth.

This tool makes answering questions such as "how old am I", "what is my chronological age" and others easy to do. If you are asking yourself how long have you been alive exactly and want to get the answer by hand, you would need to make sure you account for leap years (366 instead of 365 days, if February is included an extra day needs to be added). Working this out can be tedious, especially if a number of years have passed since the DoB since the number of leap years grows. Unless you are calculating the chronological age on a birthday, the difference in the number of months and days need to be counted as well.

The calculator can also help you calculate your chronological age at any given point in time after your date of birth (DoB). To do so, simply specify the date on which to estimate the age in the field labeled as such. If you need to know your chronological age with accuracy at the level of hours, minutes or seconds, you can use our time duration calculator instead. Just make sure you know your exact date and time of birth.

How old am I exactly?

While looking deceptively simple, the answer to the above question is not nearly as straightforward when one wants to get it exactly right, down to the date. Answering "How old am I exactly?" can actually be a difficult mathematical task.

This chronological age calculator is based on the way human age is calculated in most Western countries according to which a person who was just born has an age of 0 years, 0 months, and 0 days. The age consequently becomes 1 year, 0 months, and 0 days exactly a year from their birth. This would be on their first birthday.

Using a chronological age avoids the confusion between a complete age and a running age since it includes the number of months and days elapsed since the completed age. It is by definition lower than the running age.

What was my age on a given date?

With the use of the "Calculate age on" field one can specify a date in the past to check their age in that particular point in time. For example, to check how old you were exactly at the start of the 2018 Summer Olympic Games, just enter your date of birth in the first field, the starting date of the games in the second, and press calculate. For example, if you were born on Nov 10, 1995, your chronological age would have been 22 years, 10 months, and 26 days on the date the games commenced.

Using the same input field, a date in the future can be specified. This will result in a calculation of how old one would be at a given point in the future. For example, if you were born in 1998, in 2040 you would be 42 years old.
